Open Campus PA Director

PA Secretary of Education Visit

The Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, Ron Tomalis, visited on Tuesday, January 29 to observe students and educators demonstrating the Open Campus PA program. Joining Tomalis for a tour and press conference at Hempfield School District were Representatives Ryan Aument, Keith Greiner and Steven Mentzer as well as Hempfield School District Superintendent Dr. Brenda Becker, Manheim Township School District Superintendent Dr. Gene Freeman and Penn Manor School District Superintendent Dr. Michael Leichliter. Mr. Tomalis and the legislators were able to talk with students and teachers currently involved with courses through Open Campus PA.

What if…?

What if you learn better at your own pace rather than in a classroom? Open Campus might be right for you!

What if you need the last period for sports … and can’t get the classes you need?
What if you need to work … and can’t get the classes you need?
What if you have a full schedule, but still want to take an interesting elective, such as Latin or Astronomy?
What if you could take classes from the comfort of your own room?
What if you could simply take a time out from all the school drama?

Open Campus courses are delivered entirely via the Internet. Free of a traditional school-based class, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of shaping your schedule around your personal needs and activities. With an Internet connection and a laptop, the world becomes your classroom.

Take a look at the list of benefits, check out the course menu, and start thinking… what if?

Designed and Delivered by Local Teachers

Teams from Penn ManorHempfield and Manheim Township have created a unique online learning partnership that blurs the boundaries of traditional school buildings and district attendance areas. Beginning fall 2012, students will have the opportunity to enroll in district-sponsored online courses taught by teachers from each partner high school. Dozens of teachers from the three partner high schools have spent months collaborating on Open Campus Courses. As a student, you’ll benefit from local expertise and experience from teachers you may already know and love.
